Breeze Geschrieben 8. Oktober 2020 Teilen Geschrieben 8. Oktober 2020 Good afternoon all, Like many I have looked at your informative site from a distance, I have had my 600 since mid July and covered approximately 2900 miles, most of it around the NC 500 which is the very small coastal roads of Scotland, a great testing place for such a campervan. however there were a lot of what we call great whites along the route too. (big white motor homes) along with a lot of smashed wing mirrors from their Fiat Ducato based motor homes. Will Zitieren Link zu diesem Kommentar
Bart7974 Geschrieben 8. Oktober 2020 Teilen Geschrieben 8. Oktober 2020 Hello Will welcome here in the caliboard forum. Yes this is a great place to find a lot of practical information about the California and GC. On the moment we have a cali T5.2 but we are looking for a GC600. Because we are still happy with ourCali and the GC is quite new, we wait till the first teething problems are over . What is your experience with your new GC600 ? Hi Bart, Many thanks for the welcome, We had a T6 Ocean for 6 months and realised for our needs is was not quite large enough as we intended to stay away for extended periods of time. But loved it more romance with the Ocean the the GC.! The GC 600 has all we need in a 6m van, so far so good. love the shower room at 03.00. Very easy to drive quite efficient ie 28.5 mpg very comfortable over uneven roads and pretty quite. I have added Gaslow system ie to enable filling up from a petrol station. The made up bed is divine for people 1.9 and under. also going to upgrade the speakers to Alpine R series. great storage in the garage area, Love it Will Thanks Michael, I was due to have the very first GC in the UK but unfortunately it arrived with a European specification and some options missing so it was rejected. re-ordered then delayed at the port due to C19 finally arrived in July. but have been away a lot since since its arrival. Do you have an inlet in the chassis so to give you access from outside ? How much kg of gas (LPG) can you fill in ? Do you have pictures of the installation ? regards Bart Zitieren Link zu diesem Kommentar

Hi Bart, Yes the inlet comes in via the gas cupboard breather at the bottom. You can have x2 11kg re fillble cylinders. I have x1 11kg and x1 6kg. cost around £750 , you own the cylinders. there is a very discrete external filler point just beneath the rear bumper. sorry no photos today as the van is at the dealers for servicing. Hi Bart yes very easy as really everything you need is there only require the gas inlet to the existing system. Great for Europe as LPG is very common in petrol stations. Bart7974 Geschrieben 9. Oktober 2020 Teilen Geschrieben 9. Oktober 2020 Hi Will, I don't have a GC600 , so I don't know how the "gas cupboard breather at the bottom" looks like and where it is. But if there is a gas pipe running through this breather is there than still enough space to "breath" ? We here in Germany have the TÜV (like your MOT) which checks and approves these kind of structural changes and in such case we need a TÜV approval. Do you need an approval from some instances like MOT or other for installing the Gaslow system ? regards Bart Zitieren Link zu diesem Kommentar
Bart7974 Geschrieben 9. Oktober 2020 Teilen Geschrieben 9. Oktober 2020 I did some research in the internet and indeed there are some dealers here in Germany who install these fixed installation gas systems for campers. Mainly the big white ones. There are of course some requirements like enough space , fixed gas bottle , fixed pipes etc. I'm very interested in where they installed the gas pipes , the inlet and the fix connection of the gas bottle at your CG . Do you think you can send us some pictures of the gas installation when your GC is back from your dealer ? No hurry of course 😉 regards Bart Zitieren Link zu diesem Kommentar

Hi Bart, I will take a few photos tomorrow for you, over here it would have to be fitted via a qualified gas fitter engineer. you have 95% of the components already supplied and fitted to your GC already they would only need the cylinders and fit the incoming gas supply filler pipework. We pay for LPG £0.65 pence a litre, which is a lot cheaper than exchanging the cylinders every time you run out of LPG. Regards, Will Zitieren Link zu diesem Kommentar

Bart7974 Geschrieben 10. Oktober 2020 Teilen Geschrieben 10. Oktober 2020 Hi Will, maybe it make sense you post your photos of your gas installation in a new thread under "Grand California 600 : Bauliche Optimierungen" ( means something like "GC600 improvements") With a short description and again with the link of the gaslow fitter. So board members can easily find this topic. This make more sense than under "new member"🙂 regards Bart 1 Zitieren Link zu diesem Kommentar
